The railway station was inaugurated March 28, 1937 the railway station was built to replace the old station covered with red tiles and including only a ground floor, in the same place as Skikda, in eastern instead of 1 November 1954 and in front of city Hall, on the other side of the square. The new station is on two floors in an architecture resembling a mosque, but futuristic Moorish style for the time. The minaret, which supported a clock shaped dice destroyed in February 1962 by the OAS organization
For the decoration, the architect used the famous pottery of Nabeul (Tunisia) to floral patterns, a true hymn to nature, in a mixture of soothing colors based on green, blue and ocher.
